We want to celebrate the uniqueness of women's strengths and offer tips to make them count!
The science tells us when we use our strengths we gain more confidence, increase our well-being and are happier. However, nothing beats for me, helping someone to have that lightbulb moment where they are now in the driving seat of their life. I’ve had the privilege of coaching many women around their strengths and seeing the difference that self-awareness brings to the decisions they go on to make is profound.
Once you know your strengths, through the Strengths Profile assessment, here a few tips to think about ways to bring them into your everyday life.
Be more of your authentic self – be proud of who you and with your strengths confirmed, do what you love to do – even better. People will appreciate and benefit from you bringing your true passions to the table, not what you think you should bring.
Share them – whether its at home or work, don’t keep your strengths a secret. Ask for feedback on how people see you use your strengths and how others benefit from their use. Validate your great work.
Say yes – but not to everything. Be focused on where you offer help and what you take on. Your greatest area for career enhancement is your strengths - does your Profile suggest it will be great idea? If not, you might need to practice ‘no’ a little more often
Don’t focus on weaknesses – it might be tempting but it won’t get you anywhere. Use your strengths to compensate for them. We all have them and by being honest, you might not find yourself up at 1am finishing off that paper you pretended “would be a pleasure to write”.
Finally, we love data at Cappfinity, so we couldn’t help but review 30,000 or so Strengths Profiles and see whether there were certain strengths that were more common in women. The following differences were found in the top 7 realised strengths for women but not for men.
Esteem Builder – helping others to believe in themselves and see what they are capable of achieving.
Gratitude - being thankful for the positive things in your life
Organiser – being exceptionally well organised in everything you do
Relationship Deepener – having the natural ability to form deep, long-lasting relationships with people
